DJ Boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage weekend after weekend. From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Neotrance, all of which Boris loves to throw into one set. „Music was most important for Levan. He was uncompromising and he knew how to convey it. That’s what I’m trying to achieve, too, when I’m djing.“ Many years later, Boris became a resident at Panorama Bar’s first incarnation in Berlin, where he was able to build a loyal following by playing long sets lasting until noon. „The crowd is always a lot more receptive for music at the end than at the beginning. That’s when I rather have the opportunity to present unusual stuff and that’s when I’m able to let my feelings run freely.“ After the old OstGut/Panorama Bar closed, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin, but when the follow up club Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. Since 2005 he has got another musical platform, as he is taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. Both as a dj and as an A&R, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Boris

Susanne Kirchmayr aka Electric Indigo works as musician, composer and DJ. Her name stands for the intelligent interpretation of techno and electronic music. She started her DJ career 1989 in Vienna and worked at the legendary Hard Wax record store in Berlin from 1993 to 1996. In 1998 she founded female:pressure, the international network for people operating in electronic arts that was awarded with an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2009. She feels equally at home in the Berghain DJ booth as on the live stages of Europe’s and North America’s most adventurous festivals. Electric Indigo’s compositions premiered at festivals like Wien Modern, CTM and Heroines of Sound. In 2018, Imbalance Computer Music released her debut album 5 1 1 5 9 3. Her new album Ferrum came out on Editions Mego in March 2020.

Contrast. Objection. Antithesis. This is how you might start an attempt to describe the world. A seemingly chaos of shapes and thoughts that don't belong to each other. An overall image to be found in life and in music. But that's not how Fiedel views things. Where others make distinctions, he sees connections, where others find emptiness, he finds rooms full of opportunities. Finding those harmonies, connections and contexts marks out his musical work. The synthesis of apparently opposing music, the interaction and the mix of styles and moods, without loosing the storyline, that makes out the characteristic Fiedel sound. Born and raised in Brandenburg, he finds access to the music through various artists and styles in the mid 1980s. He was influenced by artists of the old school hip hop like Mantronix and Egyptian Lover and the early works of Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. A very important influence was Monika Dietl’s radio show at Radio 4U in West-Berlin. Her show aroused the fascination and the longing for musical freedom and diversity, that was not possible in former Eastern Germany. Those impressions gave him a first feeling, a first vision of what should become alive later on. After the wall came down, the way was open to access a fresh scene, and with it came a whole spectrum of new and old music to discover. In the beginning of the 1990s, he started DJing in public as a regular at the Monday events at Subversiv. Shortly after he began his collaboration with his befriended Errorsmith under the name of MMM. They released several productions and play live shows. Since 2000 he is resident at OstGut and later on at Berghain. On the compilation Fu?nf he had his first solo release on the incorporated Ostgut Ton label, followed by contributions to the compilations Various (2013) and Ostgut Ton | Zehn (2015). In 2012 he eventually founded his own label Fiedelone, to give his own productions a more personal base. In spring 2014 he developed a live set, which he premiered at Berghain. March 2017 saw his first full Ostgut Ton release with the 12' Substance B, followed up by his contribution to the Berghain mixes series in January 2018.

Born into an East-German family of artists, Stefan Rein experienced the world of music, especially within the theater scene, from early on. After many years of classic piano lessons during his childhood and youth, he devoted himself to electronic music in the early 1990s, when Hardcore became his first passion and Bunker-Tapes were deemed his collectables. The most crucial experience for Stefan, however, was the opening of the „GERBEREI“ in 1994, the oldest techno club in Mecklenburg, which should become the basis for all his future developments. After countless hauls through proper record stores as well as socializing and establishing contacts in the regional music scene, he started to launch his own party projects - with joining EASYTRAXX Recordstore and GERBEREI as a co-operator, a solid base was established for the following years. While meeting high musical demands, it is Stefans topmost crado to electrify and carry away the guests of the club. His sound is confrontational, in a special way his dedication to solid beats fills the room with sincere, genuine techno. Beyond any specific codification, fixed boundaries or stereotypical build-ups, his sets establish a new relationship energy between DJ and audience. As a Resident Stefan was an inherent part of the GERBEREI in Schwerin - he shared his understanding of techno not only with those who want to listen to music but with those who want to interpret it. Being yourself is always the result of interaction with others. For Stefan, the friendships that formed over the years within the scene are both anchor and catalyzer at the same time. „Techno unites.“ After moving into a new domicile in Schwerin with his company ''newspeak-RAW'', Stefan fulfilled a long-cherished dream with the foundation of his record label'' PURE''. Outputs with Blind Observatory, Avion, Leytonstone and Orion were well received. The releases appeared as limited editions and exclusively in vinyl. Within the last few years more heartfelt projects followed - „PURE TRAXX'' und ''Stress Research'' took root and have lately come up with acts like Andre Kronert, Alex Do, Distant Echoes, Ron Albrecht and Matrixxman. Stefans musical ideas are becoming more and more shaped. Nach unzähligen Beutezügen durch die einschlägigen Recordstores und guten Kontakten zur regionalen Szene wurden eigene Partyreihen ins Leben gerufen - mit dem Einstieg als Mitbetreiber im EASYTRAXX-Recordstore und der GERBEREI in Schwerin eine solide Grundlage für die kommenden Jahre geschaffen. Die Clubgäste mitzunehmen, und das mit hohem musikalischem Anspruch, ist bei ihm oberstes Credo. Sein Sound ist konfrontativ, seine Affinität zu seriösen Beats lässt auf besondere Art wirklich ernsthaften Techno durch den Raum wabern. Jenseits einer bestimmten Codierung, eines fixen Rahmens oder stereotypen Spannungsaufbaus lassen seine Sets eine new relationship energie zwischen DJ und Publikum fließen. Als Resident war Stefan ein fester Bestandteil der ''GERBEREI'' - sein Verständnis von Techno konnte er allerdings schon vielerorts mit all denen teilen, die Musik nicht nur hören, sondern auch interpretieren wollten. Man selbst sein ergibt sich immer auch aus der Interaktion mit Anderen. Die über Jahre gewachsenen Freundschaften innerhalb der Szene sind für ihn Anker und Katalysator zugleich. ''Techno verbindet''. Eine sehr besondere Atmosphäre entsteht immer, wenn Stefan mit seinem langjährigen Freund Ron Albrecht im DJ-Team zu erleben ist. Die ''Brothers in Mind'' bilden bei ihren Auftritten eine Einheit mit einer zum greifen präsenten Energie. Ihre Auffassungen von Techno ergänzen sie sich gegenseitig perfekt. Raum, Zeit, Rhythmen, Töne, Menschen – alles verschmilzt und wandelt sich. Nachdem er mit seinem Unternehmen ''newspeak-RAW'' ein neues Domizil in Schwerin bezogen hat erfüllte sich Stefan mit der Gründung seines Plattenlabels ''PURE'' einen lang gehegten Traum. Outputs mit Blind Observatory, Avion, Leytonstone und Orion fanden hier viel Beachtung. Die Releases erschienen nur in limitierten Auflagen und ausschließlich in Vinyl. Mit ''PURE TRAXX'' und ''Stress Research'' folgten in den letzten Jahren weitere Herzensprojekte, die sich gut etabliert haben und zuletzt mit Act's wie Andre Kronert, Alex.Do, Distant Echoes, Ron Albrecht und Matrixxman aufwarten konnten. Seine musikalischen Ideen formen sich mehr und mehr. Fortschritt ist die Verwirklichung von Utopien - time will tell.
