Give U Space

K Wata’s Give U Space, issued by Short Span as SHORT11, is an eight-track Bass album spread across two 12-inch records. Its low-end focus sits alongside dubwise pacing, dark tones and carefully placed detail, with the drums drawing on slow Memphis and Houston trap. The arrangements develop gradually, gathering groove before reaching higher-energy points in “Whisper Dub” and “There Will Be Love”. K Wata wrote and produced the record, mixing it with Christopher Botta at Fer Sound Studio. SG provides vocals on “Give U Space” and “Go”, while Eugene Lai adds clarinet to “Radio Embrace”. The result keeps a sound-system weight but an inward, finely controlled sense of space.
